PPA’s 2025 Design Challenge
The Paperboard Packaging Alliance’s 2025 Student Design Challenge, asked students to design a fiber-based packaging system for an original pet care brand. The project brief required creating packaging for a pet DNA test kit and complementary product based on the test results.
Graphic Design x ITP
This project was a collaboration with Industrial Technology Packaging students. However, we could only meet with the ITP class once a week, which made coordinating difficult. So, to streamline communication and file sharing, I created a shared Notion board and Figma file.

Replace plastic pet product packaging with a resealable, sustainable, & easy-to-ship paperboard solution.
Brand Strategy
Our Re-PAWSH program makes upgrading harnesses easy while reducing waste. When it’s time for a new size, return the old harness using our reusable product shippers to receive a 30% discount on the new one.

Design Process
Sketches
We began the design process by sketching dogs of all shapes and sizes to illustrate how our brand offers products for every kind of dog.

While designing Pawsh’s logotype, we focused on capturing the brand’s fashionable spirit and its core concept of growth alongside your dog.

Beveled Edge
We introduced beveled edges on both products’ packaging to reinforce brand recognition, echo the logotype’s variable letterforms, and ensure the product stands out on shelves.
DNA Kit
The DNA kit opens like a book, to reveal intuitive, left-to-right instructions. Inside, a 100% medical-grade paper swab pouch ensures the while the test tube slot keeps the sample secure during transit.

Our single dieline design allows the package to be shipped back as-is, without needing an additional return mailer. This is made possible through the double-creased door, which allows our box to be reconfigured for return shipping.

Looking back…
In the end, this project helped me realize how valuable teamwork is to my design process. Creating Pawsh was challenging but rewarding, and with such a large scope, we relied on timely communication and organized file management to deliver a final product we’re proud of.
